Built by the Muscle Shoals Theatre group (owned by Louis & Stanley Rosenbaum), the Colbert Theatre was opened in January of 1942 on Montgomery Avenue in Sheffield and seated 900 people. The Colbert Theatre closed on Christmas Day in 1971.
